Facebook is a social networking website that was originally designed for college students, but is now open to anyone 13 years of age or older. Facebook is the most popular form of media technologies out there right now. Personally, the uses of Facebook are fun and interesting; however, it can become addicting like so many other forms of technological interacting. Facebook is a great tool for reconnecting with old friends as well as keeping up with the new ones.
What would do without email? Used by every one of any age and "ranking up there with the Web as one of the most useful features of the Internet, e-mail has become one of today's standard means of communication. Billions of messages are sent each year" (Internet Terms, 2010). Email has almost made regular mail correspondence an inconvenience; however, there are those who still love that way of communicating. The use of writing and sending things through the mail really shows at holiday time. A loving picture of grandchildren translates better in a picture that can be held than a picture over the net.
Blogging is short for "Web Log," this term refers to a list of journal entries posted on a Web page. Because of the simplicity of creating a blog, many people (often young kids and adults) have found a new presence on the Web" (Internet Terms, 2010).
Online education has been the educational saving grace of many. Online education has allowed people of 18 years old and beyond to enjoy gaining a degree without the hassle of constantly going to an actual class. For a working wife or husband it has truly been heaven sent.
